The Morning Stake: Baseball Loses to OU and Series; Kim Kaufman Finishes 13th

In the Morning Stake: Baseball loses the game and series to Oklahoma yesterday; possible Red Raiders and Kaufman finishes top 20 in LPGA event.

Baseball Loses Game 3 and Series to Oklahoma. The open thread has been updated, but Texas Tech lost 3-2 on Sunday, behind a pretty strong pitching performance from Dominic Moreno, and ended up losing the series. The Big 12 is going to be brutal and the season is still early.

Possible Red Raiders. Wreck’em 24/7’s Michael LaBarre has his weekly feature on possible Red Raiders, including some notes on some football and basketball guys. Since we’re getting a lot closer to commits either happening or not happening in basketball because they have to do so by the end of the spring, Texas Tech offered Mychal Mulder, a JUCO shooting guard from Indiana.

Kaufman Ties for 13th. Yesterday morning, Kim Kaufman was sitting third in the JTBC Founders Cup, but in the final round, she shot a 72 and finished tied for 13th overall.

Thomas to Temple. This is one of those things that I don’t think I even knew this guy existed, much less a student assistant, but Glenn Thomas, 37, is the new quarterbacks coach at Temple, hoping to turn around P.J. Walker. The reason I’m bringing this up is that Thomas used to be a student assistant at Texas Tech, then moved on to Midwestern State before being hired in Atlanta, where he was an offensive assistant and then a quarterbacks coach for Matt Ryan for the past three years.  I have this memory in the back of my head that I knew about Thomas having this sort of success, but there’s another part of me that didn’t have any recollection of this at all.

Miscellaneous. The men’s tennis team took care of Louisiana, 6-1 . . . the ladies’ tennis team lost to Texas 4-2 . . .
