Morning Links:

The official site has the specific details as to how the game is being televised:

The scrimmage will be shown on FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Oklahoma and FOX Sports New Orleans, which combined reach over 10 million cable and satellite television homes in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. It will also be televised nationally on FOX College Sports Central.

As to the radio options, even though that page takes you to the baseball affiliates, I think those are Texas Tech’s broadcast affiliates. I don’t know for sure, but I assume that the radio crew will be up and running.  I always link to the TuneIn app because they sorta promised that Texas Tech athletics would be up and running on the app, but the TuneIn schedule says that it’s just baseball for today.   It may be worth checking out around game-time.

The open thread goes up at 10:00 a.m.

We’ll do the morning links bullet style.

  • OAOnline’s Adam Zuvanich previews today’s game and head coach Kliff Kingsbury says that this scrimmage will mean a little something:

“I think it’ll be a bigger deal,” said Kingsbury, comparing today’s scrimmage to the previous two in Midland. “Talking with our staff, it’s really the only chance this spring to play in front of a crowd. The young guys who redshirted last year, we’d like to see how they respond when the lights come on. It’ll be fun to see how the young guys handle the situation.”

  • Midland Reporter-Telegram’s Oscar LeRoy also previews the scrimmage and Kingsbury discusses the things to work on for the team:

“This is our third year and we have to learn to protect the football better,” Kingsbury said. “And penalties have also been terrible. We’ve been especially bad in the red zone. Cutting down on penalties and turnovers, and being more disciplined are some of the things we have to do to be an elite team. If I could pinpoint all the reasons why we have done some of the things we’ve done I would have gotten it fixed by now. It’s been one of those deals where those things cost us games last year. It cost us to be not very good.”

  • LAJ’s Don Williams has five things to watch for this scrimmage.
