In this morning’s stake: Le’Raven Clark would possibly love to intern with the New Yankee Workshop; a Texas Tech commit is projected in the 1st round of the MLB Draft; and spring sport updates.

Football

Clark is Looking for Internship at New Yankee Workshop. After reading this Q&A from ESPN’s Max Olson with LT Le’Raven Clark and I get the feeling that Clark would be more excited to intern with Norm Abram than be picked in the NFL Draft next year.  I suppose that Clark could also intern at a hunting show as well.

Not Sure if Opened Up.  This Bleacher Report article from Ben Kercheval says that head coach Kliff Kingsbury is opening up about the quarterback competition and I didn’t get the impression that Kingsbury opened up about anything, especially the quarterback position.

Miscellaneous.  Texas Tech has released their camp information, these are ridiculously important for recruiting . . . Wes Welker is visiting Miami as a possible landing spot . . . DMN’s Tommy Magelssen has his look at the receivers . . .

Spring Sports

Carson Named Big 12 Female T&F Athlete of the Week. Congrats to javelin thrower Hannah Carson, who was named the Big 12 Femail Track and Field Athlete of the Week, who has the second best javelin mark in the nation.

Spotlight on Kristi Belshe. Another nice write-up on the Big 12 site on softball catcher Kristi Belshe.

Men’s Basketball

Something to Watch. There’s no way to keep track of all of the transfer news in men’s basketball, but this is just something to stow away, which is that Creighton forward Leon Gilmore (6-7) is transferring from Creighton after a freshman year where he was out for 6 weeks and only averaged 5 minutes a game. Gilmore choose Creighton over Texas Tech and Houston and is originally from Manvel, so maybe there is an opportunity. Gilmore would have to sit out a year, but this may be worth kicking the tires out.

Beard Named UALR Head Coach. Former Texas Tech assistant Chris Beard was named the head coach of Arkansas Little-Rock. I’ll never forget when Billy Gillispie was hired and toyed with Beard in keeping him and then eventually go, I received an email from someone that said they were related to Beard and that the way Gillispie treated Beard was beyond reprehensible. Of course, I didn’t have a response because I can’t just go on the record with that (at least I didn’t feel that way). Beard went 47-15 with Angelo State.

Baseball

Texas Tech Commit Projected a 1st Round MLB Pick. Just stumbled on this, but Through the Fence is projecting Texas Tech commit Trent Clark outifield as a first round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft.
