Gridiron on the Plains: NFL Draft Prospects; Standout Freshmen

In Texas Tech football news: Le’Raven Clark is a highly thought of candidate for the NFL Draft in 2016; Breiden Fehoko is a freshman standout after the spring and a possible new walk-on kicker from Salado.

Top 2016 Big 12 NFL Draft Candidates. ESPN’s Brandon Chatmon has his list of possible Big 12 candidates to be drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and OL Le’Raven Clark makes the list:

T Le’Raven Clark, Texas Tech: At 6-foot-6, 313 pounds, Clark is a terrific NFL prospect. He has terrific size and athleticism along with plenty of experience as a three-year starter who enters his senior season with 38 consecutive starts.

Standout Freshman. Also from ESPN’s Brandon Chatmon, he finds the best freshmen in the Big 12 after the spring and as you might imagine, Breiden Fehoko makes the list:

DT Breiden Fehoko, Texas Tech: The centerpiece of the Red Raiders’ Class of 2015, Fehoko should be a solid contributor on defense this fall. Tech needs help along the defensive interior, and Fehoko enrolled early to prove he is ready to make an impact. That’s exactly what he accomplished this spring.

Early Look at Preseason Opponents. DMN’s Tommy Magelssen has a very early look at the non-conference schedule for Texas Tech. I’m going to be working on the team-by-team previews, probably starting in June and I think I’ll split up the one large post into a few individual posts that will go through the week.

Possible Kicker. Salado’s Cameron Markham is soccer star, but was also Salado’s kicker and will try to walk-on at Texas Tech. He only attempted two field goals, making both.
