The Morning Stake: More on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football

In this Morning’s Stake, we have a bit more on Dave Campbell’s look at the colleges in Texas and we find out (at least I do) that Adell Duckett has a son playing football in Mineral Wells.

Undrafted Wins Again. Wes Welker’s horse Undrafted won the Golden Jubilee Stakes at 14-1 odds this past weekend.

Giddens to Play Inside for Coronado. This past weekend, the LAJ, though their high school site (which is very really good) LoneStarVarsity, held a lineman challenge and in the article linked, the Coronado head coach mentioned that Texas Tech commit Emoree Giddens would be playing inside this fall as there are a couple of sophomores that are playing tackle. Wreck’Em 24/7’s Daniel Paulling interviewed Giddens at the event and I don’t think we really learned much new about Giddens.

Another Duckett. This is a bit interesting. I normally do a search in the morning for Texas Tech and ran across this article from the Mineral Wells Index that mentioned that the Rams have a junior receiver, Jordan Duckett, returning for his junior year after he caught 31 passes for 585 yards and 4 touchdowns as a sophomore. If you’d like to check out Duckett’s Hudl, then there you are. I thought I had remembered Mineral Wells being in the news recently and some of the players held a revolt after the head coach all but named his son as the starting quarterback, after moving the coach’s son to back-up slot receiver. The head coach eventually caved and said that he wouldn’t make any offensive decisions. Duckett wasn’t one of the players that joined in the revolt. Duckett doesn’t have a recruiting profile from any of the services just yet, but he is just a junior-to-be.

More on Dave Campbell’s College Preview. The DMN has a bit more detail if you haven’t picked up Dave Campbell’s just yet, although I think everything is invalid considering that Le’Raven Clark DID NOT make their first team all-Texas offensive team, instead naming Adrian Bellard of Texas State, so the whole danged thing may be completely invalid. They do pick Texas Tech to finish 6th this year in the Big 12.

Miscellaneous. Wreck’Em 24/7’s Michael LaBarre (beware of auto-play video) has his weekly look at possible Red Raiders . . . DMN’s Tommy Magelssen has his projected defensive starters and there’s not really any surprise from what I can tell . . .
