Sources Confirm Texas Tech to Take on Utah in Puerto Rico. This is kinda funny, the headline to this ESPN article about the Puerto Rico Tip-Off says that sources indicate that Texas Tech will play Utah and Texas Tech and Minnesota are in opposite ends of the bracket. The funny part is that ESPN owns the tournament, so yeah, “sources”.

Kaster on the Mic. He’s a natural.

Jones Ready. Nice article in the NewsOK on Texas Tech Noah Jones, who says that he’s ready to create something special at Texas Tech:

They’re trying to do something special,” Jones said. “I want to buy into that, too. They think I can get some playing time early and have a chance to be a part of something big.”

The Red Raiders see Jones as a defensive end now, but potentially someone who could play all across the line as he physically develops. He has a powerfully built lower body with the possibility to add some significant upper-body mass in the future, increasing his weight to the 280 range.

“Noah is big, strong, physical,” Southmoore coach Jeremy Stark said. “He moves well for as big as he is. And he’s smart. All of those things put together make for a good football player.

Holgorsen Thinks Big 12 Will Add Two. Via Jim Rome, West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen said that it seems inevitable that the Big 12 will eventually add two teams and thinks that eventually, playing a conference championship game is the way to go:

“I was in the Big 12 for eight years when we had 12 teams and had a conference championship, that was a pretty neat deal I thought and I was kind of discouraged that some of the other conferences weren’t having championship games at that point,” Holgorsen said. “I think everybody needs to be on an equal playing field, 12 teams is kind of the way, two schools out there got to step up and show some people they’re ready for the Power Five stuff, and I think probably eventually that will happen.”
