Eats & Bounds: 2015 Texas Bowl Events

In case you haven’t heard, Lubbock and the rest of the South Plains could be crippled by an oncoming blizzard. Hopefully, if you’re reading this and you have tickets to the bowl game, you’re already on the road.

Below are the main headlining events for the big game against LSU. On Monday, I will have an extensive post devoted entirely to Houston eats and drinkeries thanks to locals Dan and Brian here at STP and my good friend, JT. Stay tuned!

Sunday, December 27th

Houston Zoo – Miller Outdoor Theater
Texas Bowl Pep Rally 4:30-7:30pm

The Texas Bowl Pep Rally presented by Wells Fargo is a great opportunity for fans travelling into Houston and the local community to experience a FREE Bowl Week tradition that celebrates the culture, heritage and football tradition of the Lone Star State!

This year’s event will feature live music by Jarrod Sterrett and the Hired Guns, partner activations and giveaways plus appearances by the Head Coaches, Team Captains, Mascots and Cheerleaders sharing pre-game traditions from each team with attending fans.

Monday, December 28th

Griff’s
Houston TTU Alumni Chapter Happy Hour 5:30-9pm

Be sure to come out early, as there will be limited quantities of free Spindletap beer! There will also be food trucks and the Texas Tech spirit squads are going to stop by as well.

Not a part of the chapter, but in town for the game? We want to see you too! This event is open to all Texas Tech alumni, friends and fans! Can’t wait to see you there as we get ready to wreck LSU!

Midtown (Front Porch, Christian’s, and Pub Fiction)
Bowl Bash – 6pm-12am

Bud Light Bowl Bash will pit Texas Tech & LSU fans against one another to find out who has the best fans in college football! Red Raider and Tiger fans will converge on local bars in Midtown, Houston to compete in contests and giveaways while meeting Gridiron Legends, Team Mascots, Cheerleaders and more!

Tuesday, December 29th

North Houston TTU Alumni Pregame Rally 11am-2pm

NRG Stadium
TexFest 4pm-Kickoff

The Teams will be dropped off and will enter the stadium through Budweiser Plaza and the Taco Bell TexFest! Come cheer the teams as they head to plat in the 2015 AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl!

NRG Stadium
Official TTU Alumni Pregame Party 4:30-6:30pm

The event will run from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 29 in the south end of NRG Stadium and is the perfect place to mingle with Red Raider fans as we get set for kickoff. Tickets can be purchased at redraiderfantravel.com (click see details, go to the official Texas Tech Pregame Tailgate tab and click “view details” to get to the purchase form). The pre-sale price for the tickets is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. These prices will be good until Dec. 26 or until they sell out. So don’t wait. Buy your tickets today!

Included in the price of the ticket is a pregame meal, as well as a drink ticket and access to a cash bar. The meal will include a nacho station, grilled all-beef hot dogs and gourmet cookies.
