Team Building. Ran across this post from Camuary Washington, a member of the softball team, about all of the things that the softball team has done this offseason to team build. A retreat to Palo Duro Canyon and listening to Marsha Sharp, Tom Stone and Kirby Hocutt. Really nice insight into the team and a good read. Pictures too.

Lady Raiders Host Kansas. The Lady Raiders will take on a struggling Kansas team. The official site has game details and tip-off is for 5:00 pm and Kansas is winless in the Big 12:

“Kansas is a team that plays really hard, and they are obviously hunting for their first Big 12 win,” Texas Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said. “I think they have continued to get better even though they haven’t been able to turn the corner yet. I think they have continued to improve. They defend hard and will pressure you man-to-man as well as show you three different zones, so we expect to see a lot of different looks.”

LAJ’s Nicholas Talbot previews the game.

Fascinating Interaction Between FootballScoop and a SID. Via FootballScoop, an interaction between Scott Roussel and the sports information director for the football team at Mississippi State. Essentially, the SID made a snarky comment about how FootballScoop was breaking bad information (which they weren’t and if they did, then they tried their best to correct it). The SID apparently told Roussel this:

Martin: Look man, I don’t view you as traditional media. We’re trying to train our local coverage that everything needs to come through us first. We’ve told them point blank that they shouldn’t write articles based off of your tweets or reports.

This is the direction of things, everything to go through the official site and office. And consider how FootballScoop hasn’t broken any coaching hires, I don’t think. They’ve all stayed pretty low-key and quiet. The other thing that’s interesting about that exchange is that the SID has zero respect for Roussel and isn’t apologetic for his tweet or really anything. The SID pretty much confirmed that they fed the local media a line about a coach not taking a job, to that coach then taking that job the next day. The excuse for the SID? It was a big recruiting weekend.

As far as Texas Tech, I have no idea who the current SID is for the football program, which is probably a good thing.

Miscellaneous. Yahoo! reported yesterday that Ole Miss is under NCAA investigation, but word somewhat trickled out later that these investigations were focused on women’s basketball, track and field, etc. FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman reported that much of the investigation regarding the football program involves Laremy Tunsil and his loaner vehicles that had him suspended 7 games . . .

Recruiting Updates.
