The Morning Stake: March 28th

Softball

Texas Tech Swept by No. 21 Arizona St. I don’t know if I mentioned this on Saturday, but wanted to mention that the softball team was swept by Arizona State over the weekend.

Tennis

Baseball

Texas Tech Takes on UNLV. The baseball team is in Las Vegas taking on UNLV in a two-game mid-week series (and via PDF). The first game is tonight, starting at 8:05 and the second game is on Tuesday at 3:05. I won’t get time to put up a series thread today, but I will keep everyone updated.

Freshman LHP Erikson Lanning will take the mound tonight while junior LHP Ty Damron pitches on Tuesday. UNLV is 8-14 on the year (at least according to the notes). The Red Raiders swept the Oklahoma Sooners over the weekend to move to 5-1 on the year in the Big 12 and 16-7 overall.

Basketball

Angola-Rodas on Visit. This past weekend, Texas Tech hosted JUCO guard Braian Angola-Rodas.

We wrote about Angola-Rodas this past week as a potential option for the Red Raiders.

Football

Derrick Willies Can Do This. Errbody has a post on this from yesterday afternoon, and yes, it is amazing.

Firm Punch to the Gut. Former Texas Tech commit and legacy, Jalen Reagor, committed ot Oklahoma last night. Reagor originally committed to Texas Tech and then backed out recently. Stinks to lose a legacy commit, but stinks even more to lose him to a Big 12 rival.

Webb Ready for Colorado. Via the DenverPost, current Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb is anxious to begin his journey at Colorado and was up there during his spring break:

He can’t be on the field as the Buffs work on a revamped offense under co-coordinators Darrin Chiaverini and Brian Lindgren, but he got the most out of his time on campus.

“I was in the facility really from 6:30 to 6:30,” he said. “I was up there all day, just trying to get a hold of the offense while I was up there. It was really a business trip, not really a spring break for me. It was fun.”
