West Virginia blanked Oklahoma, 5-0 yesterday to advance to the winners bracket along with Texas Tech. West Virginia is a hot team, as I mentioned in the last series of the year, West Virginia had won 10 in a row before meeting Texas Tech. I think there’s a chance that they might make the NCAA tournament with a win against Texas Tech. The Mountaineers will be plenty motivated.

The bullpen fell apart late and West Virginia won a game they had to win. WVU’s starter had to leave after just 1.1 inning, but their bullpen held it together, while Ryan Shetter came on to pitch the top of the 7th inning and it was somewhat the beginning of the end for the game as Shetter gave up the winning run without recording an out. Ryan Moseley came in and things didn’t get better as Moseley promptly gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk in just 1 inning. Davis Martin got the start, giving up 5.1 innings, walking none and striking out 5.

The Texas Tech offense was held to just 6 hits and 4 runs and it should be noted that Tanner Gardner had to sit out this game at center field with a bad hamstring. I’d guess he’s out for the rest of the Big 12 Championship. Tyler Neslony was 2-4 with an RBI, and Hunter Hargrove was 1-2 with an RBI.
