Beating Florida. Davis Martin was brilliant and Eric Gutierrez hit a two-run home run in the 4th inning to help lead the way to a Texas Tech win (recap | box score). There were two key plays that stick out in my mind from that game, the first being Tyler Floyd throwing out a runner that was running in the base path. The ball hit the runner as the runner was running on the left side of the first base line and the ball gets into right field. The ump ended up calling out the runner, but had he not done that could have opened up a huge inning for Florida. And then Tyler Neslony throwing out the Florida baserunner for the final out of the game who was trying to stretch a hit into a double. From left field, Neslony threw a rocket and made the play not even that close. Just huge. Some of those highlights are on the post-game post.

Up Next. Texas Tech will play Thursday at 7:00 pm against Coastal Carolina, who lost to TCU, 6-1. Again, the NCAA site has a bracket that’s easy to read and follow the action. If Texas Tech beats Coastal Carolina, the Red Raiders will then have to beat TCU twice since they haven’t lost yet.

Can’t Stop Dallas Braden.

Another Huge Play. I think this made SportsCenter’s #3 play last night.

Stay Focused.

Team Luke. This won’t get a lot of press, but make no mistake how much Texas Tech and community and family team to Marsha Sharp and Kliff Kingsbury.
