original-double-t LAJ’s Krista Pirtle writes about the improved play of Dede Westbrook, who is on a tear coming into this game.

He also added three touchdowns — from 71, 42 and 47 yards out — en route to his first Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor.

“Dede’s a very, very explosive player,” sophomore receiver Mark Andrews said. “He’s very fast. It doesn’t always look like he’s going full speed, but when he turns it on, it’s pretty impressive how fast he can get going. He’s a great route runner.”

original-double-t Tulsa World’s Eric Bailey writes about the Oklahoma secondary and playing this Texas Tech offense:

And then there is defensive coordinator Mike Stoops.

“These offenses are all scary. They can hurt you in a lot of different ways,” he said. “We know what Tech is. We’ve played them every year. We understand their approach. I think it keeps our players on their toes because they know how explosive this group can be.

“It’s a different week, schematically. This is a dynamic offense.”

Sports Spotlight’s David Ubben predicts this week’s slate of Big 12 games (do not follow David’s lead picking against the spread and I’m not one to talk) . . . Land Grant Gauntlet’s Patrick Mayhorn has 10 burning questions for the Big 12 in week 8 . . . I don’t know if I trust everything about ProFootball Focus, but they rank the top quarterbacks in the nation and they have Baker Mayfield second overall and Patrick Mahomes at sixth overall . . .
