The Big 12 Report: Week 11 Previews

Baylor Bears (6-2, 3-2) vs. Oklahoma Sooners (7-2, 6-0)

Baylor’s game against TCU seems improbable to me and a result that I never expected, especially given what I saw from TCU’s offense the week before against Texas Tech. Being blown out by 40 at home on a game that they were “allegedly” supporting Art Briles seems like an ominous result. But to this game, I personally think that Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are the hottest teams in the Big 12 and they are really rolling offensively. I’d also add that getting Perine back certainly helps quite a bit, while Linwood is suspended for the Bears. I like OU and all of those points. We may be the witnessing of Baylor starting to crumble.

Iowa State Cyclones (1-8, 0-6) vs. Kansas Jayhawks (1-8, 0-6)
What Happened Last Week for Iowa State: Oklahoma 34, Iowa State 24
What Happened Last Week for Kansas: West Virginia 48, Kansas 21
Location: Memorial Stadium | Lawerence, Kansas
Date and Time: Saturday, November 12th at 11:00 am
Television: FSN Affiliates
Line: -9.5

Someone has to win a Big 12 game and to just pick a winner, I’ll take Iowa State handily. They are very much starting to roll offensively and I do not want to go to Ames to play the Cyclones in a few weeks.  Kansas seems to be treading water and I’m not sure what they want to be on offense. The 9.5 points is a lot, but I think I’m crazy for liking Iowa State here despite the fact that they have the exact same record.

West Virginia Mountaineers (7-1, 4-1) vs. Texas Longhorns (5-4, 3-3)
What Happened Last Week for West Virginia: West Virginia 48, Kansas 21
What Happened Last Week for Texas: Texas 45, Texas Tech 37
Location: Memorial Stadium | Austin, Texas
Date and Time: Saturday, November 5th at @ 11:00 am
Television: FS1
Line: Texas -2

For Big 12 purposes, this is a marque Big 12 game. Texas has won two in a row and the Mountaineers whipped up on Kansas last week.  Texas’ defense showed something last week, it showed that they can adjust. I still think the West Virginia defense is very good and I think they’ll have something ready for Texas. It seems weird to think that I’m kinda looking forward to a defensive match-up in the Big 12.  Both UT and WVU are adequate on offense, but the table may tilt on D’Onta Foreman. West Virginia is a top 50 rushing defense. I’ll take West Virginia and I think it’s a 7 point game, but I like the Mountaineers by 5 or so points.
