Assistant coach Ray Caldwell announced that he is leaving Texas Tech to go back to high school coaching. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Texas Tech Baseball

Texas Tech dismantled New Mexico, 12-4 (Recap | Box Score). The weird thing here is that John Henry Gonzalez started, which means there will be a different starter on Friday and it will also most likely not be Erikson Lanning, Caleb Killian or Dylan Dusek because they all pitched yesterday. There were 11 hits and they pretty much all counted because there were 10 RBI. Michael Davis was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI, including a home run. Josh Jung was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI. Orlando Garcia is seeing the ball well, going 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs. Kholeton Sanchez got the start at catcher and promptly went 2 for 3 and scored 3 runs.

Texas Tech will travel to Manhattan on a short week, playing Thursday through Saturday so that they’re back home for Easter.

Texas Tech Basketball

Lakeview Zahire Smith is set to decide between Texas Tech and Texas on Thursday. Smith visited Lubbock this past weekend and with Jordan Brangers moving on to Western Kentucky, this opens up a scholarship spot for someone like smith, who is a 6’5″ guy that just does it all.
