Texas Tech Athletic Graduates

Pretty cool that the Texas Tech athletic graduates will be wearing this stole during graduation ceremonies.

Texas Tech Athletic Administration

Via LAJ’s Don Williams, Texas Tech deputy athletic director Chad Weiberg is going back home to his alma mater at Oklahoma State. A corresponding move was made, although I don’t think that this was necessarily made to replace Weiberg, Greg Glaus was hired as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services. Glaus is from Kent State and is replacing Felicia Martin, who has moved on to the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury spoke with Arrowhead Addict about Patrick Mahomes going to Kansas City and you can read the whole thing, but I found the part about how Kingsbury spoke with Mike Smith about how he thought that KC liked Mahomes:

I knew that the Chiefs were very interested early on in the season. One of my good friends, Mike Smith, coaches there and so I had a feel for their liking of Pat. Even through the process, I knew they were very high on him and I was hoping, knowing the kind of great quarterback coach that Andy Reid is, that Pat would get a chance to work with him and a great organization like the Chiefs and behind a great quarterback like Alex Smith where he could maybe learn for a year or two and get comfortable in a system.

It all worked out perfectly. I told Pat, “It’s the start of the line for you.” Now it’s about him going and handling business. But yeah, to see the Chiefs make a move like they did, to get their guy that they’d targeted a long time ago in the process, that says a lot.

I have always wondered if Smith and Kingsbury are still good and really, that’s none of my business, I just want all of my Texas Tech folks to still like each other at the end of the day. Also discussed in the article is about how Kingsbury sees Mahomes adjusting to the NFL and much of it will depend on Kansas City adjusting to Mahomes’ strengths.
