Big 12 Report: Week 6 Previews

Let’s take a look at week 6 in the Big 12.

Game: Iowa State vs. Oklahoma
Last Week: Texas 17, Iowa State 7 | Oklahoma – Bye
Date & Time: Saturday, October 7th @ 11:00 a.m.
Location: Oklahoma Memorial Stadium
Television: FOX
Line: Oklahoma -28
Expert Commentary: This seems like a lot of points and Iowa State probably isn’t as bad as they showed last Thursday . . . but . . . Park looked terrible against a pretty good Texas defense and I think the Oklahoma defense is most likely better. I definitely see OU winning a 20 point game, but I don’t know if it’s a 28 point win. That seems like a lot, so I think I’ll take Iowa State and all of those points. Oh, and Oklahoma was off this past week, so they’ve been gearing up for this game.
Game: West Virgnia vs. TCU
Last Week: West Virginia – Bye | TCU – Bye
Date & Time: Saturday, October 7th @ 2:30 p.m.
Location: Amon G. Carter Stadium
Television: FS1
Line: TCU -13.5
Expert Commentary: This is another line that seems unusually high for me. I wouldn’t have guessed that the line would be nearly 2 touchdons. I think TCU wins here, but I think it’s closer to a 7 to 10 point win. Both teams are coming off of a bye and I’ve been to TCU’s stadium and I never thought it was that much of a home field advantage. I know this makes me look petty, but aside from the really loud music at every moment, the crowd wasn’t that much into it against Texas Tech and I don’t know that they’ll get into it for WVU. I think the biggest question for WVU is if their defense is for real and for TCU, it’s if Kenny Hill, who has played much better than I expected, is going to slip. He seems like he’s on the right track.
Game: Kansas State vs. Texas
Last Week: Kansas State 33, Baylor 20 | Texas 17, Iowa State 7
Date & Time: Saturday, October 7th @ 6:00 p.m.
Location: Texas Memorial Stadium
Television: FS1
Line: Texas -4
Expert Commentary: Um, I’ll take Kansas State and those points. I don’t think that K-State is necessarily some sort of terrific team, but I don’t think that Texas is 4 points better (I’m guessing UT gets 3 points for being at home). The funny thing is that this line started at UT -7 and everyone jumped on that line. It would seem that the Texas offense will struggle if Buechele can’t play and he’s been in a walking boot for part of this week.
