Smith Survives Appendix Cancer. Terrific story from A-J Media’s Don Williams has the story of former Red Raider footballer and assistant coach Mike Smith had a bought of appendicitis, which in turn led doctors to discover that Smith had appendix cancer. Go read the whole thing, I’m happy as hell that Smith is doing okay and there is a low chance that the cancer could return.

As an aside, to give you all an update on my nephew Jenson, the pathology results came back benign, but he’s still going to undergo radiology within the next couple of weeks to eradicate the entire tumor in the back of his head. I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate your thoughts, good mojo and prayers.

Preferred Walk-Ons McHorse and Neece Commit. Texas Tech received the commitment from another preferred walk-on, Grapevine offensive line / tight end prospect Mason McHorse (6-4/215) and Albany wide receiver prospect Dax Neece (6-3/185). Those links will take you to their respective Twitter pages and you can check out their Hudl highlights. With Kevin Johns as the offensive coordinator, Texas Tech is going to need a tight end. Trust me on that.

And lest you forget, Wednesday is national signing day and there may be 6 or 7 spots available for some defenders. Some people consider me to be a Texas Tech expert and I don’t have a clue as to what will happen on Wednesday and could see Texas Tech signing 6 or 7 players or I could see Texas Tech punting for 2019 and we discuss how the defensive recruiting was an absolute disaster.
