Leading Off

Texas Tech assistant coach Laurie Brower qualified for the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open after shooting 3 over par 75 at Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin (TexasTech). Congrats!

Texas Tech Baseball

Texas Tech will play Arkansas today at 6:00 p.m. The chances that this game will be played seems very slim because they’ll be playing a triple-header in Omaha today because of thunderstorms in the area last night. Last night, Oregon State defeated Washington, who is out. Mississippi State will play North Carolina at 9:00 a.m. and Florida plays Texas 65 minutes after the end of that game.

I’ll get a open thread up at 2:00 p.m. and we’ll just sorta pray that there won’t be 10 football commits today.

Texas Tech Basketball

The NBA Draft is on Thursday and head coach Chris Beard thinks that your man, Zhaire Smith, is going to play early because he’ll literally do what you want him to do.

It was also noted yesterday that Zhaire signed with Puma and before yesterday, Puma didn’t even have basketball shoes, but Zhaire, Deandre Ayton and Marvin Bagley, III have all signed with Puma and now, it was released that Jay-Z will be the president of basketball operations. The other connection is that Zhaire has signed with Roc Nation as his agency, so this is all coming together.

Texas Tech Football

Well, two more commits yesterday, one of them being quarterback Maverick McIvor from San Angelo and cornerback Markel Reed from Temple. It’s been a busy few days in terms of recruiting and McIvor was so important because there are just so few quality quarterbacks that are available.
