Naylor Selected 12th, Taylor 15th, Santillan 49th in MLB Draft. Huge congrats to Texas Tech signees, Josh Naylor, Trenton Clark and Tony Santillan, who were selected in the top 15 picks in last night’s first and second round of the MLB Draft. Naylor was selected 12th by the Miami Marlins and Clark was selected 15th by the Milwaukee Brewers. In the second round, Tony Santillan was picked 49th overall Another big day today where more players could be drafted. The official site has some more information on these guys. Also, don’t look for any of these players to actually ever wear the scarlet and black.

Track and Field

Regional Honors. Big honors as a handful of coaches and athletes won regional honors:

Cierra White – Women’s Track Athlete of the Year
Kole Weldon – Men’s Field Athlete of the Year
Wes Kittley – Men’s Coach of the Year
James Thomas – Men’s Assistant of the Year AND Women’s Assistant of the Year

Congrats to Thomas, who I recently found on Twitter.  And in scrolling through his photos, should also congratulate his family on the birth of their son, Jameson Lee Thomas, future small forward, left handed pitcher, quarterback and decathlete (no pressure!). The baby was born right in the middle of all of these late season meets for the Big 12, regionals, etc. Congrats to his family!

Football

Miscellaneous. ESPN has their summary of the week in recruiting in the Big 12 . . . The Land Grant Gauntlet has a good, old fashioned mailbag, where Chris answers how long the Big 12 will last . . .
