Raider Power. Athletic director Kirby Hocutt addressed the crowd at the Football Kickoff Luncheon and wanted you all to see it. If the emails that I am receiving are any indication of the need to sell season tickets and Hocutt’s comments about buying season tickets just a week and a half away from the season starting, I’m a bit concerned. The season tickets are the lifeblood of the athletic department, that and along with the money received from the network deals.

As an aside, I bought my $5 tickets yesterday and my brother-in-law and his son and Yoyo (Fitsum opted to stay at home, which is fine) will be there on opening day. As of right now, the weather is set to be 87 degrees and cloudy so the weather should cooperate and not be a brutally hot day.

Kobie McKinzie Decommits. This is not a big deal to me, but it could be a big deal for you. Lubbock-Cooper linebacker Kobie McKinzie was previously committed to Texas Tech as a sophomore, he’s about to enter his junior year, and has decided to decommit. A lot bigger programs have offered McKinzie since Texas Tech gained his commitment and this thing is so far out, it’s not worth it to me to really get too excited or too down for something like this.

NFL Signings. Congrats to Jakeem Grant and Michael Crabtree!
