Texas Tech Terminates Lady Raider Head Coach Marlene Stollings

Tonight, Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt announced that Lady Raider head coach Marlene Stollings has been terminated effective immediately.

Hocutt will host a Zoom press conference on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

This was the right thing and only thing to do. If Stollings didn’t want to settle, which this sounds like exactly what happened because most coaches are given the opportunity to resign, then he just terminated her contract and we’ll worry about the contract and the fallout of terminating a head coach later.

I think Kirby is going to have to answer some tough questions here, especially about what he knew, and what he didn’t know and who in the administration is reviewing the exit interviews. I think that these players deserve answers as do we as fans.

I am happy she is gone and no longer her to tarnish this program. To see these ladies physically and verbally abused (there’s a big difference between coaching players hard and abusing them and Stollings absolutely crossed that line) absolutely breaks my heart. No one deserves this. No one.

To the ladies who endured whatever that Stollings did to them, thank you for sticking with this program. I am sorry that it happened to you.
