5-star receiver Micah Hudson entered the transfer portal after the season, spent a semester at Texas A&M where he allegedly did some things in College Station that weren’t great (nothing illegal, just maybe not getting along with some of the players), then left Texas A&M, and spent the spring semester figuring out where he was going to go, including a possible visit to Utah. Hudson didn’t receive a huge amount of playing time as the season started and the expectations were those that Hudson wasn’t playing when there was possible snaps available. I speculated at that time that it wasn’t going to fly most likely for Hudson and think that thought was ended up to be accurate. He wasn’t happy and he moved on to what he thought was greener pastures in College Station.
Hudson was really given everything when he arrived, including given the No. 1 jersey and named as part of Patrick Mahomes “Team Mahomes” initial class, and although it was said he wasn’t given the moon for NIL, I am sure he was fairly compensated.
I’ve even seen rumors that Hudson will walk-on this time around (you can find the Reddit thread where this is discussed if you’d like to look and I have no idea). So now Hudson has missed spring practice with a new offensive coordinator and I am sure that he will be behind the 8-ball a bit in terms of catching up so he won’t be handed a starting spot or anything else when he arrives on campus. My expectations will be tempered. Last year, Hudson had 8 catches for 123 yards in 8 games, but was injured the spring last year and only had the preseason practices to get into the swing of things. Be patient and wait your turn and I think things will probably work out. There’s a good group of receivers in front of him who were here all spring, Caleb Douglas, Reggie Virgil and Coy Eakin. He’s got to be patient and I think transferring a third time probably won’t end the way he wants.
