An even shorter and sweeting Morning Stake. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there. You are loved.
On the Diamond
Don’t ever tell me that you can’t buy a Big 12 Championship. Yes, lots of work and coaches have to push the right buttons and players have to perform, but the plan worked. Texas Tech softball beat Arizona 4-0 to win the Big 12 Tournament and NiJaree Canady was named the Most Outstanding Player:
NiJaree Canady was named the Most Outstanding Player after totaling 16.2 innings and allowing just four hits and three walks while striking out 26 batters in what was one of the most dominant performances by any player this weekend.
Hailey Toney, Mihyia Davis and Alana Johnson were also named to the All-Big 12 Tournament Team after strong offensive performances.
Toney hit .667 with two doubles and six RBI. Davis hit .500 with a home run and five RBI while Johnson hit .429 with three RBI.
Selection Sunday is today and they will make the tournament because of the automatic qualifier for winning the Big 12, but I have no idea if they will host, but they certainly have a shot to do so.
Texas Tech baseball won yesterday in walk-off fashion behind a Damion Bravo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning. The final game of the series is today, senior day, with Zane Petty on the mound and first pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
