Texas Tech named Aaron Uzzell as Assistant A.D. for strength and conditioning.

Uzzell, a longtime member of the football strength and conditioning staff from 1997-2015, began his second tenure at Texas Tech earlier this summer. In his new role, Uzzell with oversee the overall strength and conditioning programing for all 17 sports as part of Texas Tech’s health and wellness unit.

“We are excited to welcome Aaron back to lead our strength and conditioning department,” said Grant Stovall, who oversees Texas Tech’s Health and Wellness unit as a Senior Associate Athletics Director. “He has a long history with Texas Tech and brings a diverse background of experience to the department. Aaron has worked with most of our sports in his past stint with Texas Tech. He is uniquely qualified and has the respect of our coaches, staff and all those he has worked with and trained along the way.”

Uzzell served on the football strength and conditioning staff under four head coaches during his first stint at Texas Tech, beginning under Spike Dykes and continuing under Mike Leach, Tommy Tuberville and Kliff Kingsbury. The Red Raiders made 15 bowl appearances during his tenure on the football staff as Texas Tech was among the most frequent postseason participants in the country.

Via Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellinger, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to attempt to save college sports and I think the consensus is that this won’t change really anything. The Dellenger article linked and this post/tweet from an attorney, that was re-tweeted/posted from Dennis Dodd, David McKenzie is a bit harsh, but accurate in terms of probable effect, which is not much. Maybe the best way to look at it is what Cody Campbell tweeted/posted and say that this is a “step” and the intent (my words, not Campbell’s) is to try to save college sports, including Olympic and non-revenue sports.
