Texas Tech volleyball defeated Duke yesterday and this program full of freshmen wasn’t probably expected to get a ton of wins against Power Four programs and after being down the first set, they won the next 3. They’ll play Georgia today at 6:00 p.m.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese wonders if Texas Tech will blow out Kansas Kent State:

Texas Tech 50, Kent State 6: Pretty much a carbon copy of the Arkansas-Pine Bluff game minus the weather delay — fingers crossed — but the Red Raiders should be able to manage their subs better with a regular game flow.

Red Raider Sports’ Shelby Hilliard on cornerback Amier Boyd being ready to deliver for Texas Tech:

Boyd said he’s been able to play more freely in the Red Raiders’ defensive scheme which emphasizes communication and trust. It’s also the first time he has played on a defense that gave the green dot [helmet comm] to a safety. Brenden Jordan for Tech to be specific.

“This is my first time seeing that especially on the defensive side where they [Brenden] can actually get the call from Coach Green,” Boyd noted. “It’s a pretty good tool. If we got a check wrong he can quickly fix it for us.”
