On the Diamond

Texas Tech baseball will play a 12-inning game against Texas in Round Rock at Dell Diamond at 1:00 p.m. There won’t be any video, but will have audio. The notes at the link say that Texas Tech has 13 player who have played JUCO ball, including 7 newcomers:

Tech’s group of JUCO newcomers includes catchers AJ Goytia (McClennan) and Matt Quintanar (Blinn College/Central Arizona) as well as infielders Luke Orfi (Florida Southwestern/Georgia Highlands) and Caden Ferraro (Blinn College) and pitchers Donovan Beccera (New Mexico JC), Bryce Suiter (Fort Scott) and Heeryun Han (Los Medanos JC/New Mexico Military Institute).

They will play one additional fall ball game on October 18th in Norman against Oklahoma. I also have no idea what to exepct from this team.

On the Gridiron

There is a reason I really started not really covering recruiting, because it can be too much sometimes. Earlier this week, 2027 Oklahoma tackle Cooper Hackett flipped to Oklahoma.

Then last night, James Blanchard retweeted the commitment of unrated 2027 defensive tackle Antonio Underwood (6-3/265):

His recruiting profile says that he has offers from Houston, Texas Southern, Rice, UTSA, Texas Southern, Jackson State, Lamar, and Texas Tech.

Recruiting Profiles: On3 | 24/7 Sports.

Last night, Houston TCU dropped their first Big 12 game at Arizona State last night, 27-24 in what looked like an incredible game and an incredible comeback from the Sun Devils (box score). And Houston escaped with an overtime road win over Oregon State, 27-24. That means that Houston and Texas Tech will be 4-0 for next week’s matchup (box score).
