Ed. Note – Re-posted from Sunday. On Tuesday night, Yoyo was taking on a couple of tacklers, 2 of whom jumped on his back to drag him down, he was trying to gain an additional yard and his femur dislocated from his hip and tore his labrum. It is not an injury that I like revisiting, but that’s where we are. Surgery is on Tuesday and he’ll be out for 3 months, which seems like a short period of time for me, but probably not for an 8th grader who has been looking forward to football season. I am still planning on running my 50k on Friday in Seattle with my brother. I initially was going to cancel my trip, but we know he’s going to come out okay and we have lots of family that will be able to look after him. If you are into it, please think a good thought for Yo on Tuesday, I’d appreciate it.

On the Pitch

Texas Tech defeated Iowa State, 2-0 yesterday afternoon and Texas Tech pretty well dominated this game. Shots was 22-9 in favor of Texas Tech and 6 corners to 1 for the Cyclones. Sam Courtwright knocked in a goal, assisted by Kylie Bahr in the first 20 seconds, while Peyton Parsons headed one in in the 17th minute after a nice center from Macy Blackburn. These ladies will return home to host Oklahoma State on Thursday night, first touch is at 7:00 p.m.

On the Gridiron

The latest AP Top 25 has Texas Tech moving up 1 spot to No. 12. College Poll Tracker has all of the details, including one voter having Texas Tech at No. 6 and another voter having Texas Tech at No. 19.

I mentioned this yesterday, the Texas Tech vs. Houston line opened with Texas Tech favored by 8.5, was Texas Tech -10 yesterday, and is now Texas Tech -12.5.

Head coach Joey McGuire is on with J.D. Pickell, and as they get into at the beginning of the video, Pickell was a walk-on at Baylor and was there with McGuire.
