Last night was Fitsum’s regional band competition where they received a 1 (which is great) and that advances them to area. It was a long day at work and late night so today’s Morning Stake will be a bit sparse. And to add to things, Friday night’s football game is moved up to tonight for the expected rain likely to happen on Friday.

By all accounts, Texas Tech volleyball may have played one of their best matches last night and this young team may be improving. Texas Tech volleyball fell to No. 24 Colorado 3-2, dropping hte first set, then winning hte next two, before losing the final 2.

The only player who was top-3 in scoring (18.2 PPG) and rebounding (9.4 RPG) in the Big 12 last season, Toppin is one of the best players in the country. The walking highlight reel averaged a double-double (19.3 PPG, 11.0 RPG) while leading the Red Raiders to the Elite Eight in March.

CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah resets the Big 12 Championship race:
Texas Tech (6-1, 3-1): Despite looking mortal in a loss to Arizona State last week, Texas Tech remains the team to beat in the Big 12. The defensive line has exceeded all expectations as linebackers David Bailey and Jacob Rodriguez both earned Midseason All-America honors. With quarterback Behren Morton healthy, this is still the best team in the Big 12, but he needs to get healthy.
