Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese: Texas Tech football hosts BYU: Scouting report, prediction for Top 10 Big 12 showdown
Texas Tech 34, BYU 28: This probably changes if LJ Martin is either out or hampered, but the Red Raiders are the must more tested team this season, and that’s calling the shared opponent of Utah a wash. The Cougars haven’t faced a defense like Texas Tech has or an offense as equipped to deal with whatever the BYU defense has in store.
Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger: Texas, oil and football: How Texas Tech has raised a football monster in no time at all
Desert News’ Dick Harmon: Predictions: Look for Texas Tech-BYU to be a physical rumble
A big question: Does a rested-up BYU and Jay Hill defense with two weeks to prepare have an edge on a TT team that comes in without a week off to heal up — if this is indeed a physical contest of bodies on bodies?
It should be a classic.
ESPN’s Max Olson: Texas Tech’s $7 million defensive line is paying off
Blanchard reached out to Bailey’s agent, who informed him that the coveted transfer was leaning toward going to UCLA. But Blanchard wasn’t giving up that easily. That night, he tried appealing to Bailey with one more text.
David, give me 120 seconds to have a convo with you. If you’re not interested after that, I’ll leave you alone.
Bailey remembers he was hanging out at a friend’s house on a Friday night, back home after recently graduating from Stanford. He took the phone call out of curiosity. Bailey had been at the top of Blanchard’s list of edge rusher targets in December, and the GM was willing to pay whatever he wanted.

At the Net
Texas Tech volleyball fell to Arizona 3-1 on Friday afternoon. From what I can tell, this was a pretty good match other than the 1st and 4th sets.
