On the Hardwood
The Lady Raiders fell to Colorado on the road on Saturday night, 75-68. Texas Tech shot 58% from the field, but allowed Colorado to grab 17 offensive boards to just 3 for Texas Tech and that resulted in 17 2nd chance points to just 2 for Texas Tech. The rebound disparity was 34 to 18 in favor of the Buffs. That was the difference in the game. The Lady Raiders will stay on the road and play in Lawrence on Wednesday to take on Kansas before returning home to host Arizona State on Saturday.

ProFootball Focus with their way too early top 25 with Texas Tech at No. 5:
Texas Tech exploded onto the scene in 2025, winning its first Big 12 championship while setting the new program record for wins in a season.
It doesn’t appear to be a one-hit wonder either. The Red Raiders once again killed it in the transfer portal. Their biggest addition was Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby, whose 90.5 PFF grade this past season stood fifth among all quarterbacks in America. Texas Tech also brought back many of its skill-position players and should still have an elite defense with some big-time transfers coming in on that side of the ball.

ESPN’s Max Olson with the best portal player for the top 25 and you can guess that it is Brendan Sorsby.
I will self-hate for linking a Mac Engel article, but here we are. Texarkana Gazette’s Mac Engel on Joey McGuire wanting to change the narrative about Texas Tech:
Joey McGuire received a text message three days after Texas Tech’s season ended in the Orange Bowl from one of his best players.
“Coach, I got to see how bad you’re hurting. You need at some point to take a deep breath and understand we did something that nobody has ever been able to do at Texas Tech, and you have to appreciate that.”
The text came from Red Raiders linebacker David Bailey. This was a message the Texas Tech football coach needed to hear, but it was not one that he expected from a player who was preparing for the NFL draft.

“Last year, we opened our doors, and we were very up front with that we were going all in,” McGuire said. “This year, the story has to be that we’re here to stay, and this is how we’re doing it versus that it was about the money, or stuff like that.
“Let other people talk about that. Let them call the other teams out there, and let them talk about the money they spent. We’re not hiding from the money we spent, but we’ve got to create a narrative that guys are coming here because they want to be here, that this is a great place for players, and guys are playing the best years of their career here.”
