Good morning. Although we’ve had a couple of play-in games, I didn’t want to do an open thread (I also am sick with a pretty terrific cold and so I’m not operating at 100%). With that being said, I’ll have an open thread at 11:00 a.m. every day there’s NCAA Tournament games. I’ve also been really disappointed in finding a schedule and think the one on ESPN is the best as I think it adjusts for your personal time zone (it does for me). Enjoy your day.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese on Lady Raider head coach Krista Gerlich leading the Lady Raider program back to the NCAA Tournament:
“As I told the team beforehand, this is not a destination; it’s not just getting to the tournament. This needs to be an annual thing, like it used to be. It needs to be an expectation, and not just get in the tournament, but advance and win in the tournament.”

ESPN’s Billy Tucker on the best newcomer for every Big 12 team and here’s a bit from the article:
What to expect: Expect Sorsby to be the engine of Texas Tech’s offense, transforming it from just a Big 12 favorite into a genuine national title threat. His talent will be critical in punishing teams when the defense creates short fields — something that was lacking in 2025. Sorsby’s leadership and proven track record will elevate returning playmakers, and his dual-threat ability forces defenses to account for him both as a passer and a rusher. While the defense faces significant losses, Sorsby’s arrival ensures the Red Raiders will have a high-powered offense to compensate, allowing backup Will Hammond (recovering from injury) to develop for 2027.
Texas Tech received a commitment from 2027 4-star Langham Creek (this is in Houston) linebacker Jhadyn Nelson (6-4/215). Red Raider Sports’ Ben Golan talked to Nelson about his commitment, which started with Texas Tech who gave him his first offer.
“I got on the phone with them last weekend on Sunday or maybe it was Monday. I spoke with the Defensive Coordinator (Shiel Wood) and Coach (Brian) Nance. On Tuesday, they called me out of class and my coaches were outside in the hallway. The Texas Tech coaches were on the phone, we spoke and they offered me my first scholarship offer. My dream came true and the feeling hit me immediately.”
Nelson would blow up after that, with schools across the country jumping into the picture daily.
