This has been a whirlwind of a week for me. The good news is that Fits had his last track meet yesterday, so the early mornings and the late nights doing things with the boys will be slowing down a bit. I am working on non-transcripts for the coaches, but in the meantime I am trying to catch up on some news in this Morning Stake.

Texas Tech and head coach Krista Gerlich agreed to a new 4-year deal on Wednesday of this week, which will take her 2029-30 season. Congrats!
The new contract includes a stipulation for an additional year to be added to the contract should the Lady Raiders make the NCAA Tournament at any point during the first four seasons. The $3.1 million contract also includes an enhanced bonus structure for conference and postseason achievements.
“Our women’s basketball program took considerable strides this past season under Coach Gerlich, and this new contract reflects our support in continuing to build upon that success,” Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. “I believe our best days are in front of us and look forward to seeing our Lady Raider program continue to elevate under her direction.”
On the Gridiron
The Big 12 officiall announced that Texas Tech and Houston will be played on Friday, September 18th and the regular season finale against TCU will be on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, at Jones AT&T Stadium. I think I’ve already been through the reasons and I did think that Joey McGuire had a good thought last week about how FOX was maybe missing out on the 2nd best game of the week in college football (the best being Ole Miss & LSU, i.e. the Lane Kiffin game) being Houston vs. Texas Tech. Texas Tech plays Oregon State September 12th in Corvalis and now Houston on September 18th at home.
I linked to the Bussin with the Boys video earlier this week where they visited Texas Tech and that wasn’t something that I enjoyed all that much. Adam Breneman had also visited Texas Tech and I enjoyed these two sit-down interviews with McGuire and general manager James Blanchard much more. I honestly never got further than 10 minutes with Bussin with the Boys and their campus visit and probably need to give it another chance for the actual interview, but didn’t really enjoy them visiting the campus and the football facility.
