The Morning Stake | 2025.04.26

Good morning gang, live from Kansas City. Youssouf has a basketball tournament in KC and we’re here for the weekend. Drove up yesterday and he’s already played a game (they won so that’s good). I normally would not worry about posting, but I also have a 90-something day posting streak here at STP that I’m not about to break because I’m sitting in a hotel room, up early, and nothing else better to do.

On the Diamond

Texas Tech softball hosting Arizona State was delayed due to weather and will play a double-header today at 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Texas Tech baseball against Arizona was also delayed due to the same weather, this double-header will also begin today with the first game at 1:00 p.m.

On the Gridiron

The Las Vegas Raiders selected Caleb Rogers in the 3rd round, pick 98, of the 2025 NFL Draft. Congrats!

This is not related to Texas Tech at all, I just found this interesting. Via CBS Sports’ Will Backus Kentucky announced that they have converted their athletic department into an LLC called Champions Blue, LLC:

The new structure will allow Kentucky’s athletic department to explore new revenue streams through partnerships outside of the sphere of college athletics, such as real estate. The proposal would create a Champions Blue Board that would advise the development of the LLC and its eventual incorporation with the university itself.

The board will also advise Capilouto and Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart in “opportunities for revenue growth.” press release from the school specifically mentions that Champions Blue, LLC could also offer expanded premium seating and fan amenities in Kroger Field.
