Made it back safely from Kansas City. I think that the drivers in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri are significantly better than the drivers in Texas.

On the Diamond

Texas Tech softball lost the series finale yesterday 7-3, perhaps this was just a hangover from winning the Big 12 title and taking the foot off the gas for one game. These ladies have a final home game on Tuesday against Abilene Christian and then a final Big 12 series at BYU.

Texas Tech baseball took the series from Arizona yesterday by winning the rubber match 9-3 behind strong pitching performances from Jack Cebert, Zane Petty and Lukas Pirko. Double-T 97.3’s Jamie Lent has been writing and blogging about the team and he’s taken a pretty realistic look at the team that’s been playing much better of late, maybe too little too late, but still playing much better.

No doubt, the team is playing it’s best baseball right now. Heuer, Boudreau, and Petty are much more consistent and are really giving their team a chance to win almost every time out. Cebert continues to be a stud out of the pen and the emergence of Peyton Shulze and Antonelli Savatterre has lengthened this line-up and made it much more explosive than it once was. Logan Hughes continuing to tear the cover off the ball hasn’t hurt either.

So, depending on whether or not you want to be a glass half empty guy, or a glass half full guy, there are two different ways to look at this team and wonder what is going to happen in the few remaining weeks of the regular season.

One thing is for certain, the team is definitely playing better and continues to keep believing they have a shot at the post-season. Is it likely, probably not? But until that portly lady starts singing it appears this team is going to keep battling and giving themselves a shot.
