On the Diamond
Texas Tech softball defeated Abilene Christian, 9-1 with Kaitlin Terry in the circle and going 4 innings while Hailey Toney homered and Jackie Lis had 3 RBI. Softball will host BYU starting on Thursday (this series will be Thursday through Saturday) at Tracy Sellers Field. Additionally, Lis was named Big 12 Player of the Week after hitting .818 against Iowa State this weekend.
Texas Tech baseball also defeated Abilene Christian yesterday, 15-4, with a solid start from freshman Adam Hayes who went 5.2 innings giving up just 1 earned run and Caden Ferraro hit a 2-run homer while going 4-5 with 3 RBI. Jesse Rusnek was named the BA 12 Two-Way Player of the Week, “A native of Brock, Rusinek went 7-16 (.438) at the plate with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored before adding two shutout innings with four strikeouts to his weekly ledger.” Baseball will host the Houston Cougars Thursday through Saturday.

JT Toppin was named a Wooden Award All-American and continues to add to his post-season accolades.
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese has 13 players Texas Tech should target in the transfer portal. Trying to guess the players out of the hundreds (or maybe thousands) that will likely eventually be in the portal seems like a difficult task. Regardless, Giese has a list of 13 that you can check out.
