“I want that test,” Glasco said. “I want my kids to really be road warriors. I want to be a team that’s mentally tough and that’s been through all the challenges that travel presents and then matching up with six different pitchers in six days is going to be really interesting and I think it’ll also get us in a really good rhythm going into the last couple weeks of the season.”

Part of the reason for adding the games, Glasco said, is that the games at Stetson and Florida State had to be canceled due to travel difficulties. Texas Tech also has its open date in the Big 12 schedule after Utah, allowing for a few games during the week to fill in the gaps.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams: Texas Tech baseball vs Houston preview, how to watch Big 12 series

Tech (17-11, 4-5 in the Big 12) will try to get back on track in a home series against Houston (13-14, 1-8) at Dan Law Field/Rip Griffin Park. The games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2; 2 p.m., Friday, April 3; and noon Saturday, April 4. The series is starting a day earlier than usual to avoid playing on Easter Sunday.

“The game’s hard, right?” Tech coach Tim Tadlock said after his team’s 15-4 home victory Tuesday over Abilene Christian. “Nobody’s claiming that the game’s easy. There’s not a better example of that than what we just went through on the weekend. When you go through a college baseball season, you’re going to have ups and downs, right? You’re going to get punched in the mouth, and usually how teams respond to that is what makes it.”
