Leading Off

If you want to set your DVR’s, you might want to tune into North Texas vs. Utah State, where you can watch Dave Yost call plays one last time for the Aggies and see what his offense is about, while you can also complain that Hocutt didn’t give Seth Littrell a chance and Texas Tech will rue the day they didn’t give him an opportunity. It’s a win-win for everyone. The College Football Open Thread, also known as the CFOT, goes up at noon.

A-J Media’s Don Williams has additional contract details on the other assistant coach salaries:

Offensive line coach Steve Farmer agreed to an offer of $260,000 per year. Outside receivers coach Jovon Bouknight, running backs coach DeAndre Smith and inside receivers/tight ends coach Luke Wells all agreed to offers of $240,000 per year.

Strength and conditioning coach Dave Scholz agreed to an offer of $250,000 per year.

All are two-year agreements with $25,000 buyouts if their employment ends before the 2020 season does.

Again, this focus is on “family” focusing on Branden Jackson, it, “doesn’t matter where you’re from,” and the end of the video has the words, “Join The Family”. I think that we’re seeing that family is going to be a big part of this staff’s focus.

This was a pretty terrific story from ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura about the white-haired, mullet-donning volunteer equipment manager for Utah State, Steve Wiley. You maybe saw this photo when Matt Wells was hired because he’s got a very unique look, which he’s quite proud of. I think you’ll enjoy this.

Flip That Commit . . . This is a 2020 recruit, but it’s still one that is lost as receiver The Colony’s Keith Miller has decided to de-commit. Not too concerned about a 2020 recruit at this point and don’t know that I’m chalking this up as an “L” but thought that I needed to include it anyway.
