Texas Tech added the 21st commitment to their 2023 class in athlete extraordinaire Miquel Dingle, Jr.

Red Raider Sports’ Ben Golan talked with Dingle about the commitment, who is the son of Mike Dingle, a running back and played for the Bengals:

I got to talk to coach Blanch (James Blanchard), coach Brian (Nance), and like I said, they’re just themselves. I can see the way they feed off of each other, I can see the way the players feed off of each other, and it’s just like a genuine thing. Let alone the facilities are good, but it wasn’t even like ‘look at the weight room, look at the indoor facilities’, it was just watching them and the players connect and talk to each other. I see the way they interact with each other. They actually have a good bond, they’re actually a family and when you have love and passion for one another that’s exactly what I want to be a part of when I go to college. That’s really what sold me, those coaches.

Every Power 5 school is gonna have the facilities but very few have what Texas Tech has. That’s why they have the No. 2 recruiting class and that’s why Texas Tech is on the way up for sure. With a coaching staff like that there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be winning the Big 12 and even more.

And for additional context, RRS’s Golan talked to Dingle when he was offered. There’s a lot there at both articles.

Based on how Joey McGuire and James Blanchard offer, they base it off of how fast you are and if you are fast enough at a certain position, with other metrics I’m sure, then you get an offer. And this is exactly what we’ve sort of found out, Dingle is having a ton of success as a track guy, but he also plays football. Why he doesn’t have offers is sort of a mystery to me, but he has the athletic traits to be a success and you’d think with his dad being a former NFL player, he’s got the make-up too. Verified times is what Blanchard look for and whooooo buddy, this is it.

Highly athletic and strong and knowing that McGuire, Blanchard, & Co. have basically a formula, this whole process becomes so much more fun to watch. There is a definable methodology as to the process, be a high-end athlete with certain traits that fit your position and be able to play football.
