The Morning Stake | 2024.04.18

Administrative

Between the basketball roster updates, I haven’t had time to do a Morning Stake and this one will be really short and sweet. Not that you need a reminder, but the spring game is Saturday in Midland.

On the Gridiron

Texas Tech football had 2 commits yesterday. Gladewater athlete Colt Sparks (6-5/210) is labeled as a tight end, but does it all for Gladewater. And also committed is defensive tackle from Loreauville, Louisiana Dylan Singleton (6-4/280).

+ Dylan Singleton: Not rated and offers from Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State.

+ Colt Sparks: A 2-star athlete, plays receiver and quarterback as well as pretty good at football. No other offers.

Jacob Rodriguez is mic’d up.

On the Court

The Lady Raiders received a commitment from transfer Jalynn Bristow (6-3), playing last year at Iowa State where she was the 47th best player in the nation according to ESPN coming from Holliday, WF Rider. Bristow averaged 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds a game last year as a freshman and played in all 33 games for the Cyclones. This is good news for Krista Gerlich.

On the Diamond

Texas Tech baseball dropped two 1-run games to Arkansas: a 9-8 loss on Tuesday and a 5-4 loss on Wednesday. They’ve now lost 4 straight after winning 10 straight and will play West Virginia in Lubbock for the weekend series.
