I have some bad news. The laptop that I’ve worked on for the past 5 years may be about to kick the bucket. On Monday night, I went to non-transcribe Joey McGuire’s presser and the screen was black with a beeping noise that happened when I opened the thing up. I googled and learned that this is what happens when maybe the hardware is messed up. I happened to have a second screen at home that I use for work and the computer still works so am thankful I was able to back up all of the things from this laptop. I’ve run every diagnostic that I have access to, but still can’t make things work and so I’ve bought a new laptop before everything comes crashing down and I was without a way to post. Just one of those deals where you weren’t expecting to have to spend money and here we are. Regardless, I am thankful that I was able to get it running and pull things before it stopped working and thankful that I’m still able to work off of it. It could have completely died.

At the Net

Texas Tech volleyball will play their final matches of the season, hosting Houston on today and Utah on Saturday.

On the Hardwood

The Lady Raiders defeated Old Dominion, 67-42 yesterday as part of the Hoopfest Challenge in Frisco. Jalynn Bristow had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, which is a career high. The Lady Raiders will play North Texas on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

On the Gridiron

LB Jacob Rodriguez was named as a finalist to the Bednarik Award and Joey McGuire received AFCA Regional Coach of the Year honors. Congrats!

CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli with his weekly power ratings and has Texas Tech at No. 7, right ahead of TAMU (which I disagree with because I would not have Alabama at No. 6):

Texas Tech had last week off and is now a win over West Virginia away from playing in the Big 12 Championship with a chance to lock up a playoff bid. What we don’t know is how the committee would view the Red Raiders if they lose the Big 12 Championship. I still think they’d get in, so if you’re a fan of a 10-2 team on the bubble, you should be rooting for the Red Raiders this week and next. Last Week: 7 | Title Odds: (+1200)

Oklahoma State has hired North Texas’ Eric Morris to be the new head coach of the Cowboys. Congrats to Morris, he’s certainly done his fair share of grinding and building programs from the ground up.

Texas Tech football remained at No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings. I have a tought time reading talking heads, but if you are interested then ESPN’s Heather Dinich and CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford are places to start.
