1. Stats. I had no idea that Baylor was 1-4 in Big 12 play, although 3 of those losses are to Iowa State, Houston and Kansas, not exactly an easy slate of games. That sort of makes them dangerous I think. The Bears are good offensively, 9th in offensive rebounding and 44th in 3-point shooting are the best parts of the offense. However, they are 131st in free throw rate, 129th in turnover rate and 106th in 2-point shooting. The defense is a bit more rough, they are 269th in opponent turnover rate, 303rd in opponent offensive rebounding, and 255th in opponent free throw centage. They are decent at defending opponents shooting inside the arc, 72nd in the nation, and are top half in defending 3-point shooting, 141st. This is a team that does not foul, 20th in the nation.
2. Scouting. Carr is a fantastic player and heck of a shooter, he makes 59% of his 2-point shots and 44% of his 3-point shots. He’s also a decent shot-blocker and doesn’t turn the ball over. Yessoufou is a good 2-point shooter, 27% and has a decent steal rate and a good offensive rebounder. Rataj, Skillings, and Powell are all good offensive rebounders, while Agbim is, along with Carr, a good shooter from deep, 40%.
3. How They Match Up. These are two teams that take a ton of 3’s, almost nothing mid-range and the rest are 2’s. Baylor’s biggest problem is that they don’t have a high assister person other than Williams (and it’s maybe at not a high enough rate), and Carr has the highest usage rate along with Powell. I am shocked that Baylor isn’t playing better defense, although it appears that a large part of this is not being able to secure defensive rebounds. The problem is that Baylor is still really good offensively and they’ve been good a decent chunk of the year, but they’ve hit a rough patch, especially shooting anything inside the arc, recently. It would seem that Texas Tech would have an advantage there because the Bears are still really good at guarding the perimeter.

5. Official Site. The official site has their preview right here:
On a three-game winning streak and up three spots in the national polls, No. 12 Texas Tech is set to take on Baylor at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Foster Pavilion in Waco.
The Red Raiders (14-4, 4-1 Big 12) are coming off an 84-71 win over BYU on Saturday where they overcame a nine-point deficit to win by 13 points – moving to 10-0 at home. The Bears (11-6, 1-4 Big 12) played in a rare Friday night game and fell 80-62 at Kansas after a win at Oklahoma State last Tuesday for their only conference win through five games. Tech, which is 1-1 in conference road games, has won eight of its last 10 games coming into the matchup at Baylor and currently leads the Big 12 by making 11.1 3-pointers per game and is second by shooting 37.8% from beyond the arc after going 11-for-29 in the win over BYU.
