Texas Tech’s scheduling frustration is the strongest compliment McGuire’s program can receive. The Red Raiders have invested, recruited well enough and have enough juice in their respective reservoir to make prospective opponents think twice about an agreement.

Roberts, now a senior and captain for the Red Raiders, is poised to have his most productive season tackling-wise since he logged 105 stops as a freshman. However, Roberts won’t be alone, as former Kansas State linebacker Austin Romaine transferred to Tech this offseason.
Both were named to the preseason All-Big 12 team earlier this offseason and are expected to be Tech’s primary inside linebackers. Romaine missed three games last season and recorded 66 tackles after recording 96 tackles in 2024.
