The Daily Toreador’s Austin Jackson was the first and only outlet to report (that I know of) that former volleyball coach Tony Graystone was terminated for cause and and will receive his base salary, but nothing else.
Texas Tech volleyball is set to open Big 12 play by hosting Iowa State on Friday night and then No. 19 Kansas on the weekend.

Double-T 97.3’s Jamie Lent is running through the position groups for the baseball team and we’ve got 3 position groups thus far: catcher; 3rd base; and 1st base. Lent also writes about how the 2026 JUCO class is one of the more highly rated in the nation.
Texas Tech softball is on an absolute recruiting-heater and I’m not going to try to pretend that I know a lot of what’s happening other than knowing they are on a heater. Red Raider Sports’ Shelby Hilliard has covered each of these commitments.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams on the 1st time starters against Houston, including DE Trey White being out with injury and preparing to play:
“Mike [Ramirez} and the training staff did a great job in preparing me,” White said, “and getting me used to being back out there on the field before I suited up, making sure I was comfortable out there. Just being in that stadium with all the fans and my parents’ first time seeing me play ever at the Galaxy Stadium, it was insane for them.”
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams on RB Cameron Dickey:
His parents, Stanley and Amanda, were college athletes in football and softball, respectively, at Ranger College, so sports genes run in the family.
“Cameron’s always been the type of kid that no matter what sport he played, he excelled at it,” said Amanda Dickey, his mother. “You gave him the ball, he made something happen.”
In high school at Austin Crockett, Dickey was a two-time all-district honoree in baseball, a four-event regional qualifier in track and field, and part of back-to-back district champion basketball teams.
Red Raider Sport’s Mason Turnbow on special teams coordinator Kenny Perry on Will Karoll’s terrific season thus far:
Special teams has been great under Texas Tech special teams coordinator Kenny Perry. This year the specialists have been great, especially Will Karoll. The first thing that impresses Perry about Karoll is his maturity and the way he comes to practice every day.
“Maturity. You know, he doesn’t let anything bother him. He comes to work every day. You know, comes to practice and just says, ‘Coach, what are we doing? What are you thinking this week?’ And then before the game, he’s out there practicing his kicks. said Perry, “And then during the game, you know, he’s always right there in my ear.” ‘What he likes to do, you know, what are you thinking here, coach?’ So he’s just really mature, and I love that about him.”
