Golf

Golf Finishes Second in Regional, Advance to NCAA Championships. Huge day for Greg Sands and the golf team as Texas Tech finished 2nd in the NCAA Lubbock Regional and qualified for the NCAA Championships to play at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. Here’s Sands:

“It never gets old, it’s always fun to make Nationals,” Coach Sands said. “There was a lot of pressure this tournament with the tournament being at home and the extra expectations but I thought the guys handled it well. The goal was to advance, there is no trophy for first or second, just advance. So in that regard, I’m happy and looking forward to cleaning up those mistakes we made.”

Clement Sordet, individually, finished tied for the best individual score alongside Houston’s Blair Hamilton at 8 under for the tournament. Huge day. Congrats to all!

Baseball

Baseball Wings Game Three. The series thread has been updated and Texas Tech salvaged the third game of the series, winning 8-2, behind a strong pitching performance by Ty Damron and the bat of Tyler Neslony.

Track and Field

More Titles. A huge day number two at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships as we need to congratulate Natalie Thompson who won the heptathlon, the first person to do that in program history. Also, JaCorian Duffield and Bradley Adkins finished first and second in the high jump for the second year in a row. Right now, the men are 2nd overall and the women are 1st.

Dauphine Needs New Trophy Case. Texas Tech signee Corey Dauphine will need a new trophy case before it is all said and done as Dauphine was part of the first place 4×200 and 4×100 teams and finished second in the 200 for the 6A UIL State Track Meet. Dauphine’s time in the 200 was 21.06 and the winning time was 20.99:
