After consulting with Coach Kingsbury, we both agreed it would be in my best interest to pursue other opportunities to further my education and playing career. Playingfootball at Texas Tech was everything I hoped for and more. Texas Tech and Lubbock are special places that have provided me with a lifetime of memories and friendships. I can’t say Thank You enough to the coaches, football support staff, training staff, academic support and university administration for the opportunities and support they gave me during my time here. I want to say Thank You to the Red Raider fans. Our fans are some of the most loyal and passionate in the nation.

Finally, thank you to my teammates. The bond that is shared between teammates is truly unique and special. One of my biggest goals every year is to be a great teammate. I worked hard every year at Tech to achieve this goal.

I look forward to graduating this spring and I will immediately begin the process of finding a place that fits me both academically and athletically.

Thank you Davis for everything you’ve given to this program. From playing with a separated shoulder to having to play as a true freshman before you were probably ready to play. You did it all without a single complaint.

As far as possible landing spots . . .

UPDATED: Via Max Olson, here are two statements from Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury and Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt.

Kliff Kingsbury:

“Davis Webb is the hardest working individual I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching,” Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. “he’s a fierce competitor and an extremely talented quarterback. Wherever Davis lands, he will immediately change the outlook of that program. All Red Raider fans should be extremely proud of what he’s accomplished here in Lubbock and look forward to watching him compete next season.”

Kirby Hocutt:

“Davis Webb exemplifies all of the characteristics you describe in a successful student-athlete, ” said Texas Tech Athletics Director Kirby Hocutt. “his positive attitude, incredible work ethic and leadership abilities make him the type of young man that any coach would want in their locker room and any employer will want to hire. We are proud that he will soon be a graduate of Texas Tech University and wish him continued success as he moves forward.”
