A-J Media’s Carlos Silva, Jr. writes about how Justin Gray is excited for his senior season and also talks about the new players that are on the team:

“Man, it’s been a long process,” Gray said. “We’ve got a lot of new guys: Jarrett Culver, Zhaire Smith, Parker Hicks, Avery Benson, Malik Ondigo, and Alex, too. All of those guys are working hard and pushing us to be better, get us to the highest level before the season gets started.”

When asked who’s impressed during offseason workouts and practice, Gray provided a couple of names.

“In my opinion, they’re kind of at a tie with me,” he said. “But, definitely, Zhaire Smith and Jarrett Culver. They came in seeking for anything they could to make them a better player. They’re definitely going to play some major minutes this year.”

Just keep staking those good players and good games on top of each other (said in Jason Garrett voice).

Another 11:00 a.m. game against a good opponent.

A-J Media’s Carlos Silva, Jr. writes about how Nic Shimonek saw so much time at quarterback last year against Kansas and Kansas head coach had a lot of good things to say about Shimonek:

“Man, he operates that offense so efficiently,” Kansas head coach David Beaty said during a Big 12 Conference media teleconference Monday. “He knows exactly where he wants to go with the ball. He always got his eyes in the right spot. The thing that I noticed, he’s a guy that escapes a lot better than, I think, people think.”
