A-J Media’s Don Williams reports that Texas Tech special teams coach Joe Robinson will not return for the 2018 season:

Robinson’s leaving the program is effective immediately, a Tech spokesman said, and he is not expected to coach in a bowl game. The Red Raiders (6-6) are expecting to receive a bowl invitation Sunday.

Robinson’s special teams units ranked 111th in S&P+ special teams, in large part because the kicking situation was a complete disaster. Texas Tech will have two coaching positions to fill, Robinson’s position and the NCAA is permitting teams to add an additional assistant coach after January 8th.
