RELATED: Quick Reaction: 4-Star PF Tyreek Smith Commits to Texas Tech
Well, I think LaBarre pretty much covered everything in his Quick Reaction post linked above. I did find a video that I had not seen, which was a pretty interesting game between Trinity Christian and Duncanville, so that means that this game included #12 Tyreek Smith for Trinity Christian and #3 Jahmius Ramsey for Duncanville, both are signing with Texas Tech and will be part of the 2020 team, while Beard & Co. have their sights set on 2020 target #5 Micah Peavy.
Smith ended up leading all scorers with 29 points and as LaBarre noted, they were almost all around the rim. Ramsey put on a show towards the end of the video with a pass to himself off the backboard for a dunk. Smith also has better than you might think handles, he can bring the ball up. If I had to compare him to a player, it would be Zach Smith. Post player who can probably defend the perimeter, can play at the rim and dunk everything headed this way. He still needs to work on a perimeter game and some post moves to an extent. From a game-playing perspective, Smith didn’t display an outside shot, but there’s plenty of evidence that he can shoot from the outside based on his Twitter handle. Maybe it was just doing what he was asked to do, which is be a rim-running forward that no one really had an answer in terms of stopping at the high school level.
And what you’ve all been waiting for . . .
