What Is OpenDorse? Ever wondered how or why so many players are able to post so many neat things on Twitter or Instagram? Texas Tech uses a program called OpenDorse which allows the athletic department to create posts that then allow the student-athletes to just hit “post” and then they’re the one that’s helping promote and building their own brand through social media. Here’s how it works step-by-step and it is an interesting and neat concept.

Parker Confirms to Taking Banned Supplement. Via Justus Parker’s Twitter, Parker confirmed that he took a banned supplement in the spring as he was moving to more of a linebacker role and needed to gain weight. The NCAA has suspended Parker for a year, which ends his NCAA career.

Getting to Work.

Bowman to Davey O’Brien Award Watch List.

Linebackers and Outside Receivers Dine with the Wells. That sounds very fancy, but it is interesting that head coach Matt Wells mixes up the position groups.

Strength and Conditioning. InsideTheRedRaiders’ Jarrett Johnson has quite a few quotes from head coach Matt Wells and the players attending the Big 12 Media Days about new strength and conditioning coach Dave Scholz. To no surprise, the players love Scholz, and here’s Broderick Washington:

“It’s the best strength staff I’ve done had. It’s just his plan and the way he does things is… it’s really amazing, honestly. Everything he does translates to football and helps us be a better athlete. We eat way cleaner now. Guys are gaining wait finally. That’s been a problem, too. Size has always been a problem for us, because we’ve always been smaller than other guys, but walking around media day we look bigger than OU, we look bigger than TCU… we look bigger than those guys now. So, now it’s not a size difference anymore. You can’t say, ‘oh, they lost because they’re smaller’ or something like that, but Coach Scholz has a great plan and it works.”

Previewing the Big 12. ESPN’s Bill Connelly previews the Big 12 and Connelly’s mathematical projections think that Texas Tech is the 55th best team and gets to 6.3 wins. It’s worth your time as you may be Jonesing for some content.
