Not related to sports. Take a quiz and find out what kind of bird you are. I am a Great Horned Owl if that gives you any idea as to my personality.

Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel talked to a handful of college football folks and they don’t think that college football will be played in the fall. I tend to think that Thamel’s view is a bit pessimistic, but I certainly have a difficult time making an argument otherwise. Thamel’s initial complaint is that college football’s plan was based on “hope” and well, I think that’s really the only plan that you somewhat have because college football isn’t like the NBA where you can quarantine an entire league.

What I do think is happening, we’re just not seeing it, is the idea that the individual teams are attempting to quarantine behind the scenes and limit exposure. I think these players, for the most part, are pretty driven to play despite the risks. Here’s Thamel:

“I hope I’m wrong, but I think the season being canceled is a foregone conclusion,” a Power Five coach told Yahoo Sports on Sunday.

The worry among coaches remains the same: Are we really going to keep pushing forward with the season and wait until there’s a player hooked up to a ventilator in an ICU and have that become the sport’s Rudy Gobert shutdown moment? Luckily so far – from Clemson to Texas to North Carolina, among those we know about – there have been no known hospitalizations among the college football players who’ve tested positive. But coaches remain concerned that players with pre-existing conditions like sickle cell trait could be at increased risk.

“I cringe when I hear administrators saying that the health and safety of the student-athletes is first and foremost,” said a Power Five coach. “No, it’s not. If it was, you would have already punted the season.”

I think that the idea here is to be incredibly flexible. Teams really have from September until some time in January to fit in 10 games, and maybe more time than that. That’s 5 months and 10 or so Saturdays. I know that the College Football Playoff is scheduled for January, but that thing can be delayed until late January or early February if need be.

Could you envision a 2 or 3 bye weeks staggered between the conferences (so that there are always games), with those conferences focused on making sure that everyone is in the clear and everyone is good to continue? I certainly could and that makes a ton of sense in a lot of ways.

One other note, via NBC Sports, which is that the SEC met on Monday and they won’t be making a decision on football until late July. I mentioned July 25th last week because I believe that is the date where football players can return and the workouts are then mandatory.

Rivals’ Eric Bossi writes that Thursday is decision day for Jonathan Kuminga, with the thought he will choose the professional ranks, but if he did play collegiately, it would be for Texas Tech. Someone posed the thought that what if Joel Ntambwe also went declared and went pro and, well, I think that would be a terrible move for him simply because he hasn’t played basketball in a couple of years and he would most likely not get drafted or picked at all. In any event, break out your Palm Pilots and Thursday at 1:00 p.m. CST is your announcement time.

College Hoops Today’s Jon Rothstein breaks down the Big 12 and he’s picking Texas Tech 5th overall, behind Baylor, Kansas, Texas, and West Virginia. To remind everyone, a lot of these experts still have Mac McClung sitting out the 2020-21 season because he hasn’t received a waiver. That probably makes a big difference. This is Rothstein predicting the starting 5:

G Kyler Edwards
G Nimari Burnett
G Terrance Shannon Jr.
F Joel Ntamwbe
F Marcus Santos-Silva

Don’t sleep on Kevin McCullar starting over Shannon.
